Monster Egg Hunt - Easter Contest Rick St Dennis FB Group!

Howzit Everyone!
We're currently hosting an Easter Contest over at the Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends Facebook group.

Here's my project for the contest which had to have the following criteria:
Use a none Easter Rick St Dennis image - check
Include a hidden pocket or compartment - check
Use 3 embellies - check
Include a famous quote - check
Mission accomplished!

MONSTER EGG HUNT!
Nightflyer the Succubus was hexited to find her Easter Eggs!

She was even more eggstatic with her surprise critter...I made the monster version of Kinder Eggs with a surprise inside ;0)  The Easter Eggs form a pocket and the little critter tucks inside.  All digi images are by Rick St Dennis except the Easter Eggs which I drew myself.

Nightflyer the Succubus
Snake in the Grass

the Venus Flytrap you'll have to ask Rick about!

All the images were printed out onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured with Copics.  For a touch of magical sparkle and dimension I embellished the flowers, eggs and the critter with a Viva Pearl Magic Transparent White pen which is a dimensional gel with a pearlescent shimmer.  The succubus was printed on her own so I could make the folded card and she was then masked with liquid mask so I could add the background.  I just played and randomly applied Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with a foam applicator and a touch of Memento Tangelo applied directly.  I hand drew the Easter Eggs, added "landscaping", handwrote the quote and drew the lines around the card with a black Copic fine liner.  The flowers, eggs and critter were all fussy cut out and adhered with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive.  I finished my card with the fancy fibers and two paper flowers, one of them was attached with a yellow brad and embellished with a little pink jewel heart.

Happy Stamping!

Queen of Hearts February Calendar Page - Rick St Dennis EDT!

Hello Everyone!
Today I'm sharing a February wall calendar page with a pocket I made for the Rick St Dennis EDT.
This stunning Queen of Hearts design is by Rick St Dennis Mfa and is a freebie colouring page available for download in our Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends Facebook group!

I started out by colouring her with a stylus in my fave art app called Paper 53 for iPad and I'm very pleased with how she turned out!

Click on my photos for a closer look.

Every year I get a wall calendar with the handy pocket but I missed out on getting one for 2016 so I decided to make my own page for each month and this is my page for February!

I got a freebie desk calendar I decided to cut up so the size of the calendar determined the size of the monthly pages I'll be making.  I printed out my coloured image and matted her and the calendar onto black and red cardstock using my Perfect Paper Layers tools.  For the pocket I enlarged one of the rose trees.  I made the pocket out of black cardstock and used a circle punch to cut out the notch in the front.  All the pieces where then adhered to black cardstock to create the calendar page.

Thanks for visiting with me today!

Crazy Queen of Hearts - 2 cards for Rick St Dennis EDT!

Howzit Everyone!
I'm back today to share 2 cards I made as EDT inspiration for the February challenge over on our Rick St Dennis Fans and Friends Facebook group!  The theme this month is Hearts or Arrows (or both).  Come and join the fun, the challenge post is pinned at the top of the wall!

This gorgeous lady is The Crazy Queen of Hearts digi stamp and she's available in the Rick St Dennis Zibbet store HERE!

You know I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan so I had an absolute blast colouring her in my favourite iPad art app, Paper 53, with a Sensu stylus even though it took me like 10 hours to complete her.  I'm thrilled with how she turned out so the time spent was totally worth it ;0)
Click on the photos to enlarge them for a better look at all the details.

Once complete I moved over to Photoshop CS6 and designed my cards.  I decided to make clean and simple cards (CAS) because I wanted the image to be the sole focus and of course the senti is Valentine and AIW inspired.  I added the sentiments and the red frames and printed them out onto white cardstock, trimmed and adhered them to folded cards made from black cardstock.

Thank you for visiting with me today and have a fabulous Valentine's Weekend!

"Let Love Fly" ATC

Featuring Lost Coast Designs Cracked Chicken, Grunge Border 2", Hearts and Curls border, Hearts border, "Love and Fly" from the Misc Words set and "Let" is handwritten.

I started out by applying Fired Brick and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks to white cardstock with foam applicators, cut out the ATC and then stamped the Hearts border and Grunge Border in Fired Brick, making sure the Heart was prominen.  I then stamped the Hearts and Curls border 4 times along the bottom edge of the ATC in Shaded Lilac DI.  The "Love and Fly" text was stamped with black Versafine onto a piece of scrap background and I handwrote the "Let" word to match the others with a black Micron pen.  The Cracked Chicken was stamped in black Versafine Ink and I coloured him, the text blocks and the background heart with PrismaColor pencils and included some metallic gold details.  The Cracked Chicken was fussy cut out and adhered to the ATC with pop dots.  For yummy dimension and sparkle I applied Vive Pearl Magic Transparent White pen to the chicken and all the hearts.

"Love Adventure" Wonderland ATC - Valentine's Week project #2!

Howzit Everyone!
We are counting down to Valentine's Day with a week of LOVE and sharing over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!  Stop by daily for fabulous Valentine inspired projects by my fellow LCDesigners!

Would you like the chance to win a $10 shopping spree at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda?  We'd love to know what you love about our rubber stamps and what you think of our activities at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity so write us a little review on your blogs and include some of your past or new projects featuring our stamps.  Then share your review with us via the link-up on the Day one post HERE!

Yesterday I shared the first of my 4 projects and now here's my 2nd, a Wonderland inspired ATC!

"Love Adventure" Wonderland ATC

I started out by applying Fired Brick and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks to white cardstock with foam applicators, cut out the ATC and then stamped the Grunge Border in Fired Brick, making sure the Heart was prominent, the Hearts border in Shaded Lilac Distress Ink and the card suites border in black Versafine ink.  The Love Dictionary was also stamped in Fired Brick with a subtle Fired Brick/Shaded Lilac background.  The "Adventure" text was stamped with black Versafine onto a piece of scrap background with a portion of the Dictionary stamp on it, I thought that looked pretty cool.  The White Rabbit was stamped in black Versafine Ink and I coloured him with PrismaColor pencils and included some metallic gold details.  I used the Hearts and Curls border to make the little flag on the left side which was also coloured with PrismaColor pencils and the hearts coloured metallic gold.

Rabbit was fussy cut out and adhered to the ATC with pop dots.  For yummy dimension and sparkle I applied Vive Pearl Magic Transparent White pen to all the metallic gold areas and clear Wink of Stella to the large LOVE, card suits border, the rabbit and the Adventure text.  I completed my Wonderland inspired ATC with a brass clock charm and a tiny white button brad.

Stop by again tomorrow for my 3rd project and I hope I've inspired you to also pop over to the Portal and join us for Valentine's Week!

"Dark Etchings" Domino Book for Rick St Dennis EDT!

Hello Everyone!

I'm super stoked to now be on the fabulous Rick St Dennis Elite Design Team!  Rick's images in both digi and rubber are simply stunning and there's a huge variety of imagery to suit every possible taste!  Check out all the digis in his Zibbet and Etsy stores and some real rubber is available Here!

This is my first EDT post for the Rick St Dennis Fans and Friends Facebook group.  February sees some changes regarding our challenges which you can read about HERE!  We also have 2 fun blogs for more EDT inspiration too:
Airless Chambers and Sparkle and Glitter

My project today is a Domino Book and is another addition to a series of "Dark Etchings" I've been having fun with for a while now.  I call them 'dark etchnings' because I create monochromatic black and gray pieces that remind me of traditional etched prints.  Previous ones were done with Black Soot Distress Ink on watercolour paper and this one is done with Copics and Sharpie markers.  Check out my other Rick St Dennis ones HERE!

The dominoes are stamped with black StazOn ink and coloured with gray and black Sharpies.  The edges and sides with the dots are coloured solid black.

Here's the pages of the book.  The scene is a compilation of Rick St Dennis "Haunted Places #1" digis coloured with Copics in shades of gray.  Sadly the rubber is no longer available and the digis aren't up in the RSD stores so ask for the digis if you need them but this technique is well suited for lots of the images that are available!  Check out all the digis in the Zibbet and Etsy stores.
UPDATE:
Haunted Places is now available at the RSD Zibbet store here:  https://www.zibbet.com/rick1949/haunted-places-one-digi-sheet

The edges of each page have Black Soot Distress Ink applied and the black background has a metallic silver edging which you can see in the photo below.

Here's the completed Domino Book with a black ribbon tied in a bow, the ribbon has silver wire wrapped around the ends.

Thank you for visiting with me today!

"I've Been to London and Now I'm Queen" Pocket Letter DT project for Lost Coast Designs!

Happy February!
It's time for our new monthly blog challenge over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!
February is ATC Pocket Letters!  Google "Pocket Letters" if you haven't a clue, there's loads of photos on the web but we have fab DT projects to share plus a video and more info in the challenge post HERE!

Here's my DT project to inspire you!
My inspiration for this project is the 80's song Puss 'n Boots by Adam and the Ants!
I used the chorus for my handwritten text but changed mice to birds!

"Pussycat, Pussycat
Where have you Been?
I've been to London and now I'm Queen!
Sitting pretty, I don't wear suits,
and the birds all call me Puss 'n Boots"

I used the following stamps by Lost Coast Designs:

I drew up my ATCs (artist trading cards) on white cardstock and started by creating my Union Jack background by masking and applying Distress Inks Fired Brick, Stormy Sky and Tea Dye.  All the imagery was stamped with black Versafine ink except for the Doodle Circles which was stamped with Stormy Sky DI and the ATC sized Journaling Letter Guide was stamped in Fired Brick DI.  All the lettering was handwritten with a black Micron pen and a white gel pen.  I also added some metallic gold detail to all the crowns with a gold gel pen.  All the ATCs were then cut out and inserted into the trading card sleeves.  The sleeves are available online at craft stores, sport memorabilia stores, eBay, etc, but I got mine at my local comic book store.  I finished off my project by making a matching envelope.
I also made a matching envelope
We are accepting 3 variations on the theme for this one:
1.  a 'true' Pocket Letter comprising of 9 ATCs displayed inside the trading card sleeve with oodles of goodies in the pockets
2.  without the additional 'goodies' or
3.  just the 9 ATCs without all the goodies and the display sleeve.
So you can have loads of fun with this one!  See you over at the Portal!

I've entered this one in:
SUYP #3
